The Melnick State of the Economy Index Increased by 0.4% in April 2010

Expansion of the business sector continues.
Labor market recovery continues.

The Melnik State of The Economy Index increased by 0.4 percent in April 2010. Expansion of the business sector continues. The various components of the index continue to show a positive developememnt. Labor market recovery continues, noticeable by the continuous increase in the number of jobs in the business sector- reflecting a recovery in demand for workers in the economy.


The components of the May Index include: an increase of 0.2% in the Industrial Production Index in March, after an increase of 0.7% in February; an increase of 1.8% in the Index of Revenue in Commerce and Services in March, after a decrease of 1.3% in February; a decrease of 2.2% in the Imports Index in April, after an increase of 4.8% in March, and an increase of 0.5% in the number of employee posts in the business sector in February, after an increase of 0.9% in January.
